Licensing

My fine art nature and landscape photographs are the perfect way to make your publication or ad campaign stand out from the crowd, and my photographs have been licensed by leading publications and organizations such as National Geographic, Adirondack Life, The Nature Conservancy, and Appalachian Mountain Club. All the images on this website are available for licensing for any use case imaginable, and my images have previously been licensed for travel books, magazines, textbooks, websites, and calendars. To license my images, please Contact Me so we can discuss the details of what you’re looking for, which will allow me to provide you with a quote and draft a licensing agreement. I typically utilize a rights-managed agreement where the image licensing rate is determined based on several factors, including:

  • Exclusivity of Rights: Exclusive licenses (where only one client can use the image) significantly raise the price, because they restrict future revenue from that image. Non-exclusive licenses allow multiple clients to use the same photo at lower rates.
  • Duration of Use: Longer licensing periods cost more. For example, a one-year license is cheaper than a perpetual (never-ending) license.
  • Usage Type and Purpose: Commercial uses (advertising, product packaging, corporate campaigns, etc.) command higher fees than editorial or personal uses. Editorial licenses for magazines or blogs are typically lower because they involve limited distribution and non-promotional intent.
  • Distribution Scope: Local or regional use is billed at a lower rate than national or worldwide distribution, since global campaigns increase exposure and therefore value.
  • Medium and Placement: The platform where the image appears affects cost. Large format prints, billboards, or high-traffic websites will incur higher fees than small brochures or internal corporate use.
  • Image Quantity: Rates are calculated per image, so cost will increase as quantity increases. Note that I do offer reduced rates for bulk (5+) image licensing requests.

Once terms have been agreed to, I will share the invoice and licensing agreement with you. After the agreement has been signed and payment has been received, I will share the image file(s) at the requested resolution via email or a file sharing platform such as Google Drive.
